October 2019 – State Pension for Brits Living in Europe

01/10/2019
The government is to write next week to more than 350,000 state pension recipients living in the EU to reassure them that they will continue to be paid in the event of Brexit.

The government says that the letter will also:

Outline that even if the UK leaves without a deal, pensions for those in the EU will be uprated for a further 3 years

Pensioners will receive an increase of at least 2.5 per cent annually for the duration of this Parliament, worth up to £200 a year per person

During the 3-year period, the government plans to negotiate a new arrangement with the EU to ensure that uprating continues

A new dedicated call centre team based in Newcastle has been established in order to answer any questions from those affected.

The uprating will also affect those living in Switzerland.
