November 2020 - Extension of the Coronavirus Job Retention Scheme until December 2020
The government has announced the extension of the Coronavirus Job Retention Scheme (CJRS) and as a result the new Job Support Scheme has been postponed until the extended furlough scheme ends.
The Coronavirus Job Retention Scheme (also known as the Furlough scheme) will now remain open until December, with employees receiving 80 per cent of their current salary for hours not worked, up to a maximum of £2,500.
Ahead of additional guidance the government says that:
The extended CJRS will operate as the previous scheme did, with businesses being paid upfront to cover wages costs
Flexible furloughing will be allowed in addition to full-time furloughing
To be eligible, employees must have been on an employers PAYE payroll by 23:59 on 30 October 2020 and
There will be no gap in eligibility for support between the previously announced end-date of the CJRS and the extended scheme
