The Secretary of State for Work and Pensions has confirmed that the increase in local housing allowance rates - introduced at the start of the coronavirus pandemic - will be frozen in cash terms from next year.
The government has decided that rates will be frozen in cash terms from 2021-22 onwards. Explaining the decision she stated that the government recognised that around the country they were seeing rents potentially going down, although she accepted that in some places they may continue to rise.
