April 2022 – Fire and Rehire Statutory Code

Despite stating last year that the government was of the view that heavy handed legislation was not necessary in order to protect workers from such tactics, the Business Minister confirmed in a written statement that the government has changed its position in light of the P and O sackings and will now amend legislation.

 

This statutory code of practice will be admissible in evidence before a court or Employment Tribunal in England, Scotland and Wales and will require businesses to hold fair, transparent and meaningful consultations on proposed changes to employment terms.
